This case involved a major collision on highway I-505 in Vacaville, CA, where a Petetractor driven by an employee of Sprinter Trucking, Inc., rear-ended a sedan driven byour clients. The truck driver was acting within the scope of his employment, makingSprinter Trucking vicariously liable for his actions.The incident occurred on October 2, 2019, when the defendant, traveling atapproximately 60 miles per hour, took his eyes off the road for 10-15 seconds to checkhis side rearview mirror. During this time, he failed to notice our clients' vehicle in frontof him, resulting in a collision that caused significant damage and severe injuries to boththe driver and passenger. The force of the impact thrust our clients' vehicle off the road,where it came to rest against a barbed wire fence. Witnesses at the scene confirmedthe defendant's inattention as the cause of the crash.We alleged in the complaint that the defendant's negligence, including driving at unsafespeeds and failing to pay attention to the road, directly caused the accident. Our clientssought compensation for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of income,and other damages resulting from the incident.As a result of the collision, both of our clients sustained severe physical injuries andemotional distress, with one suffering significant spinal damage and other injuriesrequiring extensive medical treatment. Both plaintiffs continue to endure the physicaland emotional consequences of the crash. After a year and a half of legal proceedings,we successfully settled the case for our clients, securing $2,000,000 in compensation.
